The Damned
release their second 45 today hot on the heels of the album entitled 'Neat Neat Neat'/'Stab Your Back'. And playing along
Neat Neat Neat
with the novel Stiff Records marketing ploys there's a 3rd bonus track called 'Singalongascabies' which is in actual fact 'Stab Your Back' played backwards! The 45's another racy classic characterised by Vanians speedy vocal deliver and James cutting guitar riffs.
"It sounds like Eddie Cochran played by a bunch of cider fuelled crazies in a garage....coz that's what it is." - Captain Sensible 2001
play Scarborough Penthouse, UK  tonight.

Ultravox! play Londons Marquee tonight.

15 year old Don't Care 1977
Peter Don't Care is 15 today and just getting into punk!

SIGN TO POLYDOR
Following another cat and mouse chase by rival record companies for the last few unsigned punk pioneers, The Jam managed by Paul's Father John Weller (who makes his business calls from a building site in Ash Vale, where he's working) sign to Polydor Records today for an advance sum of £6,000. It's not the biggest advance compared to the Clash or the Pistols although it will be renegotiated in 90 days. From Polydors point of view (the label who missed out twice on the Clash and the Pistols) it's the first punk act they've signed and will become one of the most successful. The Jam immediately buy a new PA system while Paul Weller spends the next few weeks practically buying every Rickenbacker guitar he can find. In between all this Woking excitement the band play The Greyhound, Fulham, London tonight.
The Jam new Polydor signings - (Don't Care collection)

M.J. Drone entertains the Roxy - (Don't Care collection)The Only Ones, Kubie & The Rats and The Drones from Manchester return to play the Roxy tonight.
