 The Maniacs are prematurely let loose for good behaviour at London's Windsor Castle pub tonight. It's early days for the band who are fronted by the big Alan Lee Shaw on vocals and guitar. Their brand of high action 77 punk rock won't get much recognition till later on in the year.

 Meanwhile Malcolm McLaren manager of the Sex Pistols  begins secret negotiations with A&M Records as a queue of record label suitors - WEA, RCA and CBS wait patiently in the wings with their cheque books flapping. He woows A&M's Managing Director Derek Green with a 6 track demo of Pistols recordings including a couple of takes on Anarchy In The UK. Green takes the bait but not before checking it out with Jerry Moss back in LA.
